Leadership Series Presents John Petrocelli
Enough already. For too long, we’ve put up with BS and the damage it causes in the workplace. Now, with the help of social psychologist Dr. John V. Petrocelli and his groundbreaking research into the causes and consequences of BS and BSing, we can learn to detect and dispose of it — before it stinks up the workplace. An expert in the science of communication, Dr. Petrocelli details how to rid the workplace of BS and those who sling it, and build an evidence-based organizational culture where honesty and trust prevail.
Bullshit is more dangerous than a lie, and it’s everywhere, a force that undermines trust, productivity and credibility within teams and organizations. Dr. Petrocelli, an experimental social psychologist and a Professor of Psychology at Wake Forest University, draws from the research behind his book The Life-Changing Science of Detecting BS to teach leaders how to better understand and improve BS detection and disposal.
There’s no BS to Dr. Petrocelli’s credentials. His research contributions also
include attitudes and persuasion and the intersections of counterfactual thinking with learning, memory and decision-making. His research and writings have been featured by the Wall Street Journal and in his popular TEDx Talk, “Why BS is More Dangerous Than a Lie.”
In addition to his research and position as an associate editor of the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, he has authored more than 50 papers in his field’s most prestigious journals, and has received numerous awards for his teaching and research achievements. Dr. Petrocelli is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science. He was also elected to the highly selective Society for Experimental Social Psychology, and is a fellow of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
